Our general structure in responding to 1Club is like that of Super Precision with some adjustments because of differences in HCP ranges. In competitive auctions we shift to a control response mode, more or less. See Competitive Auctions after we open 1Club for competitive auctions.

The details of responses follows:

ResponseDescription…More…
10 - 6 HCP
17+ HCP, 5 or more s, forcing to game;1N rebid by opener asks for gross controls (2 = 0-2; 2 =3; 2 = 4; etc.)
1Balanced hand either 7 - 12 HCP or 15+ HCP(no 5+ card suit, no singleton or void)
1N 7+ HCP, 5 or more s, forcing to game
2 7+ HCP, 5 or more s, forcing to game
27+ HCP, 5 or more s, forcing to game
23 - 6 HCP, 6 or more s, 2 of top 5 honors
2 3 - 6 HCP, 6 or more s, 2 of top 5 honors
2N13 - 14 HCP balanced
3 4441, short suit is black suit, 7 - 10 HCP
3 4441, short suit is red suit, 7 - 10 HCP
3 4441, short suit is , 11 plus HCP, 3 plus controls
3 4441, short suit is , 11 plus HCP, 3 plus controls
3Nnot defined Super Precision identified this as “solid 7 card suit and one side control (A or K) ” :?:John Kinn 2017/04/04 14:29
4 4441, short suit is , 11 plus HCP, 3 plus controls
4 4441, short suit is , 11 plus HCP, 3 plus controls

A positive response is forcing to Qgame. When there is minor suit agreement, the auction is forced to game when:

  • There is a known double fit.
  • When a natural N bid has been at the 2 or 3 level, then 4 minor is forcing
  • If a minor fit has been established at the 3 level, then 4 minor can be passed; if the minor fit isn't established until the 4 level, then that bid (of 4 minor) is forcing.
